Ben-Gurion International Airport, Israel - The air combat debriefing system developed by the MLM Division within the Electronics Group of Israel Aircraft Industries, successfully completed flights intended to prove the system's capability. The flights were conducted by test pilots from the German Air Force, in a German Air Force base in Nueburg, Germany.
During these flights, the navigational system, containing the military GPS, produced by the U.S. Company Rockwell-Collins, was demonstrated. MLM's system demonstrated maneuvers which far exceeded the strict requirements of the German Air Force specifications. The summary report of the flights determined: "In accordance with the objectives presented, it is possible to summarize the tests as a complete success. The navigational results were far above specifications. The system is ready for transfer to proving test stage."
The German Air Force acquired a considerable quantity of these debriefing systems, which are produced as a collaboration between MLM and BGT, as the primary contractor in Germany. BGT is a subsidiary of the German conglomerate Diehl. The company specializes in the field of air-to-air missiles and manufactures the Sidewinder missiles under license.
The success of the trials makes it possible for MLM to proceed to the last tests and to complete supply of the series to the German Air Force.
MLM's air combat debriefing system is the most advanced of its kind and includes air combat debriefing capabilities for many aircraft with unlimited practice range, flight safety capabilities, etc.
Until 1997, MLM worked on this program in cooperation with BVR, however, due to differences of business considerations between the two parties, MLM markets the complete system independently at this time.
